What’s more practical than a Nissan Qashqai? A bigger Qashqai of course. Although to be fair, the X-Trail is much more than just a blown up version of its almighty sibling. There’s a seven seat option for a start which will be good news for larger families, and even better news is that it’s one of the more affordable options in this category. As you can probably tell by looking at it, it’s incredibly spacious inside.  If you don’t need the extra seats all the time, you can fold them flat to extend the boot to an impressive 550 litres. Standard equipment is generous with some very nice features available as you move up the trim levels such as heated seats, and an around-view parking camera (handy, as it’s a big motor).  Engine choice is limited to a 1.6 diesel but it performs well and offers good fuel economy and low road tax. The Nissan badge should offer good reassurance of reliability and residual values.
