Honda CR-V (12 - 15)

Since its introduction in 1995, the CR-V has continuously grown in popularity. Drivers with families were drawn to its practicality, efficiency and the fact that it’s relatively cheap to run. Ok, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table in terms of drive quality both on and off-road, but it does have the edge over its rivals in terms of comfort, effective simplicity, and all round user-friendliness. The interior is top quality; covered in high-end, soft touch materials, and dripping with the latest technology. There’s plenty of room for the driver and passengers to ensure a comfortable journey, and also acres of space in the large boot for luggage etc. To drive, the steering is light, the car feels nice and weighted around corners and there is almost no body roll. The ride quality is smooth and copes really well even on uneven surfaces. There are three engines available, two petrol and a diesel. From a performance perspective, the 2.2-litre i-DTEC is the one to go for. It churns out 153bhp, 350nm of torque and has a top speed of 118mph. It’s also a very economical machine, returning around 50mpg.
